About this bundle
For your child
A bear in a basketball jersey, a lion cub flying a biplane, a goose on roller skates — characters doing things, not just wearing colours, in a sage green, navy and rust palette that reads more vintage toy shelf than baby nursery. Because nothing here is pastel or babyish, a room decorated before the baby arrives still looks right when that same child is nine and picking his own favourites from the set.
The story
Retro Boys begins with four small scenes that carry the whole set: a bear in a basketball jersey mid-jump, a polar bear working a hockey stick on cracked ice, a goose on roller skates with a precarious stack of library books, and a lion cub flying a biplane trailing a ribbon of bunting through the clouds. More than 20 animal characters play their way through the 110 designs — badminton, cricket, boxing and surfing, alongside steam locomotives, tow trucks, ferries, a racing car and a little red wagon — so the set reads less like a nursery theme and more like an entire town going about its Sunday.
The idea underneath all of it is time. Sage green, olive, dusty blue, cream, deep navy and rust are colours a parent chooses for a nursery and does not have to unchoose at six or nine, because none of it depends on being a baby's room to make sense. Ten typography prints, Long Live Boyhood and Cool Kids Club among them, sit quietly at eye height for a boy old enough to read them himself. Nineteen of the 110 designs are landscape, cut for the wide gap above a bed that a nursery wall was never built to fill.
Look past the first four scenes and the cast keeps widening: a zebra in a top hat plays magician with a wand and a black hat, a raccoon rides a red scooter past a hedgehog steering his own number-7 pedal car, and a fox cycles by in a flat cap while a giraffe rides along in a pickup truck. Cool Kids Club appears twice, once in tan stripes and once in deep olive, so a room can repeat the phrase without repeating the print. A still-life corner of trophies, medals, cricket bats and a baseball glove gives the walls somewhere quiet to rest between the busier scenes.
Inside the set
Retro Boys groups its 110 designs into four themes plus a set of still-life pieces, with 91 portrait and 19 landscape formats confirmed across the set.
A closer look
Paging through the File Guide, the transportation section alone runs longer than most bundles' entire print count: a cement mixer, a tow truck, a vintage tram, a khaki helicopter and a sailboat with a red flag all sit within a few pages of each other, before the set turns to space for a bear astronaut on the moon and a koala driving a lunar rover. A duck postman in a flat cap checks a globe beside two packed suitcases, and a hedgehog wheels a barrow of daisies past a dog holding a small flag in his wagon. The still-life run near the back — a trophy, a medal, cricket bats crossed like an X — reads like the end of a school sports day.

The palette
The full palette runs sage green, olive, dusty blue, cream, deep navy, rust and warm mustard, the kind of complex colour that has replaced sad-beige in the 2026 kids-room refresh. Two checkerboard typography prints, Explorer and Boys Rules, are the only pattern in an otherwise solid-colour set. It sits naturally against natural wood, rattan, cream walls or greige, framed in plain wood or a thin gold edge.
Where it belongs
Gifting
Retro Boys is built for the baby shower table: a boy's nursery gift that arrives the same evening, with no shipping deadline to track and nothing to wrap by hand. It works equally well as a grandparent's gift, a brothers'-room refresh when a cot comes out for a new baby, or the Christmas present that is one download and a whole wall. Because the File Guide numbers all 110 designs, the buyer chooses nine or twelve favourites rather than receiving a fixed set, so a gift bought for a newborn and a gift bought for his sixth birthday can both pull from the same 110 without repeating a print.
Questions
Above a crib, most parents use 6 to 9 prints in a mixed grid, anchored by one larger piece such as an 11x14 in. Retro Boys gives you 110 designs to choose from, all colour-matched in sage, navy and rust, so any nine you pick will sit together without extra editing. Leave 2 to 3 inches between frames and keep the whole grid within about two-thirds of the crib's width.
A queen bed wants roughly 40 to 50 inches of art, hung 6 to 8 inches above the headboard, and that wide space is exactly where Retro Boys earns its keep: 19 of the 110 designs are landscape format, built for the gap portrait prints usually leave empty. Pair two or three landscape pieces, such as the biplane or the steam train, with smaller portrait prints either side.
Open the ratio folder in Retro Boys that matches the frame you own, then print at actual size or 100 percent, never fit to page. Use matte photo paper or a heavy, smooth cardstock for the best finish, and set your printer to Best or High Resolution. Every file is a 300 DPI JPG, so the detail holds even at the largest size in that ratio, such as a 16x24 in or A2.
Yes, any of the 110 designs in Retro Boys can be printed at Staples, Walgreens, FedEx Office, Costco, a local copy shop, or at home. Take the ratio folder that matches your frame, ask for no auto-crop and matte photo paper, and print at actual size. A simple natural wood or thin gold frame suits the sage, navy and rust palette well.
Yes, that longevity is the whole idea behind Retro Boys: the sage, olive, navy and rust palette reads as a considered, colour-matched room rather than a nursery theme, so it does not need repainting when the cot comes out. There are no licensed characters to age out of, just teddy bears playing vintage sports and a fleet of vintage-style vehicles that suit a big-kid room as well as a newborn's.
No, every print in Retro Boys is full-bleed for its ratio, with no border added. Print at actual size or 100 percent so the design fills the sheet edge to edge. If your printer or print shop adds its own margin by default, trim to the ratio guide before framing.
Yes, Retro Boys works well as a baby shower gift: buy it as an instant download, print a gift-wrapped piece or two ahead of the shower, and keep the rest of the 110 designs ready for whenever the nursery is finished. Because delivery is immediate, it also covers the shower invitation you only heard about four days out.
No, Retro Boys is sold under a personal-use licence: unlimited printing at home is covered for your own family and for gifts, but turning the files into a resold product, a print-on-demand listing, or anything shared or sold beyond your own household is not.
